Meringue pops

Hope everybody had a great week and an amazing weekend to come.

Something very easy, fast and that didn’t require that many ingredients. That’s what I was up to this time, so what about some sweet meringue treats!

This is a very versatile dessert, could add different colors, different shapes or use it to serve some others desserts such as ice cream, mouse, cream and fruits. Here is what we need:

IngredientsDSC_0474

  • Dash of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg whites
  • 1/3 cup sugar

You will also need:

  • 1 piping bag
  • 1 decorating tip
  • wax or parchment paper
  • wooden pop sticks
  • decorating ribbon (optional)

Directions

  1. Make sure the bowl you are going to use and the beaters are totally free of any grease and it wont affect your egg white to raise up.
  2. Add salt, vinegar and vanilla to egg whites. DSC_0479
  3. Beat until mixture forms peaks. DSC_0480
  4. Add sugar gradually, continue beating until very stiff. DSC_0483
  5. Add food coloring if you like. But this part is important, it’s better to use paste color than liquid, because its more concentrated and wont change the consistency, you would also use less to get a vibrant color. As you can see in the picture, I used some blue color, but it did not make it through the baking time.DSC_0484
  6. If you are making pops, place the sticks separated on the tray to make the form over it. Put your mixture in a piping bag and or spoon into different shapes on cookie sheet covered with plain ungreased paper (brown paper, parchment paper or wax paper). Bake 275-300 Fahrenheit degrees for about 45 minutes. Carefully remove from paper immediately and cool. DSC_0487DSC_0490DSC_0493DSC_0491

Once baked they looked like this:

Meringue is no other than sugar and protein from the egg whites. As a sweet, it is recommended to consume it occasionally.

Remember to include fruits and vegetables in your daily diet, to stay active and hydrated.
