Good morning People! It’s March!
I hope everybody is enjoying the week. So, as I commented in the previous cake pops post, I really needed to improve my technique to have better looking cake pops. This time I made sure I did not have crumbs or anything that would make them look weird, and also put all my effort on it because they were for a special friend of mine. I hope you like them.
Ingredients
- Chocolate cake
- Vanilla frosting
- Melted white chocolate
- Food color
- About 1-2 tsp of vegetable shortening
- sprinkles
Materials
- wooden cake pop sticks
- Something to hold them
- A glass recipient and some decoration

Instructions
- In a medium bowl take the cake and make fine crumbs out of it, and if for some reason we have crusty parts, get rid of them (this time I improved my technique! They look smoother than the first ones I made).
- Now that we have the crumbs, we need to form a paste that sticks together and hold the form. This time I used some vanilla frosting and added until it maintained the shape.

- Once we have the right texture, form balls and try to make them all the same size (I used a tbsp measure for making them all the same or at least similar), place them on a tray and the put them in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes to set.
- Take them off the fridge and make a hole in every ball to make sure we don’t go o deep and then break the ball.

- Now we can insert the sticks and for that we will need melted white chocolate. Insert one end of the stick on melted chocolate and the put it inside the cake pop. Repeat this step until done.

- Place them in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes to let the chocolate set and make sure the cake won’t fall from the stick.
- For covering our cake pops I used melted white chocolate (melted on water bath) with a little bit of shortening to make it softer. Add shortening gradually until the chocolate is not so thick and stays on the cake pop. Don’t worry if it’s now too liquid, you can always add more chocolate and correct the viscosity.
- Now we are ready to cover the cake pops. Introduce the cake pops in the chocolate and make sure you cover it completely. Tap softly the hand that holds the cake pop to get rid of extra chocolate. I also added some colors to the chocolate to create a water-color combination (need to improve this technique, of course).
- You can add decoration (sprinkles) before the chocolate sets completely.

This was how I decorated it for my friend, I has inside some white and colored paper pieces, and a ribbon.

Hope you liked it and try it out! see you next week!
